March 16, 2010

High-speed Internet, or broadband, is “a modern necessity of life, not a luxury. It ought to be found in every village, in every home and on every farm in every part of the United States,” the Federal Communications Commission said in a report it sent to Congress on Tuesday.

The national broadband plan sets an “ambitious agenda for connecting all corners of the nation” with “robust, affordable Internet,” the FCC said in a press release. The plan will transform the economy and society “with the communications network of the future.”
